A registered architect
since 1986, Harrison
Gill grew up in
Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Son and Grandson of
architects, he
co-founded the
Norwalk-based
architecture and design
firm, GILL & GILL
ARCHITECTS with his
wife, Patricia K Gill,
AIA in 1990. The firm
has designed hundreds of
residential projects in
Connecticut and
throughout the
northeast. In 1997 the
couple formed a second
design venture, Gill,
Ackermann and
Associates, specializing
in corporate interiors,
commercial buildings and
institutional design.
Mr. Gill received his
Bachelors Degree in
Architecture from the
University of Virginia
in 1982. He also studied
Architecture at the
Architectural
Association in London
and the Parsons School
of Design in New York,
settling in Norwalk in
1988 after working for
several years in
Stamford, Connecticut
and New York City.
Mr. Gill recently
designed the award
winning Levy-Gall
Building in South
Norwalk, Connecticut,
the first important new
office building and
urban infill project to
be erected in this
vibrant area in decades.
The building has won
praise from many,
including the Norwalk
Redevelopment Commission
and the Greater Norwalk
Chamber of Commerce for
its bold interpretation
of traditional urban
architectural elements.
Mr. Gill has designed
dozens of new houses in
Connecticut and
elsewhere. He has
received seven separate
awards from the
Connecticut Association
of Home Builders since
1997, including a
special citation in 2002
for the Salvatore
Residence, a 13,000
square foot custom home
in New Canaan. His work
has been featured
repeatedly on the Curb
Appeal program broadcast
nationally on the HGTV
Network. His work has
been published in
several books, including
Suburban Renewal (2000)
and Updating Ranches
(2003). His work has
appeared frequently in
the regional press and
professional journals.
Mr. Gill is registered
to practice architecture
in New York, New Jersey
and Connecticut. He is
also a registered
Interior Designer in
Connecticut. He is a
member of the American
Institute of Architects,
AIA Connecticut and the
National Trust for
Historic Preservation.
His distinguished
residential work has
gained wide-spread
praise in the
communities of
Greenwich, Darien, New
Canaan, Westport and
Weston. His projects
have been featured
prominently on recent
open-house tours in
Darien, Westport and New
Canaan. GILL & GILL
ARCHITECTS has become
noted in recent years
for the design of fine
Shingle Style residences
that draw inspiration
from the traditional
American residences of
northeastern coastal
communities like
Newport, Watch Hill,
Greenwich, and East
Hampton.
Active in the Norwalk
Community, the Gills
have five children, the
oldest of whom is a
Midshipman at the U.S.
Naval Academy and a
noted sailboat racer.
Mr. Gill served as a
trustee with the
Unitarian Universalist
Society of Stamford
before joining the First
Congregational Church of
Norwalk where he served
on the church council
and as a deacon. An avid
sailor, Mr. Gill is a
longstanding member of
the Cedar Point Yacht
Club in Westport,
Connecticut, recognized
as one of the finest
sailboat racing clubs on
the East Coast.
With a current staff of
eight, GILL & GILL
ARCHITECTS has had
offices on Wall Street
in the traditional heart
of Norwalk, Connecticut
since 1993. Mr. Gill has
a passionate interest in
the redevelopment of
Norwalk with a
particular emphasis on
the urban waterfront
neighborhoods along the
Norwalk River and the
Wall Street district.
